Central Staffing Office

The Central Staffing Office (CSO) at UF Health Shands is located on the 5th floor, room 5169 in the north tower of UF Health Shands Hospital.  The department is comprised of an Administrative Director, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Systems Specialist, two Administrative Assistants, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants (PCA), Patient safety Attendants (PSA), Support Technicians (ST), Mental Health Technicians (MHT), Monitor Support Technicians (MST), and Case Managers. The Central Staffing Office provides support to Shands at UF Health Hospital 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The office staff is available in the hospital Monday through Friday 0700 to 1600 and the Staffing Associates are available 7 days a week 0500 to 2330.

Description of Services

Central Staffing and Clinical Support is a designated supplemental staffing pool designed to support nursing and operational areas by providing coverage to meet the complexity of daily staffing demands. Our primary customers include all inpatient nursing units, Emergency Department, procedural areas, and research areas.

Assignments for the CSO staff are based on the level of floating as described in the UF Health Shands Hospital Department Nursing float grid and age appropriate needs. Qualifications for external benefitted nurse applicants include: minimum one year clinical experience in designated pool, BSN within 3 years of hire date, National Certification in designated specialty within 2 years of hire date.

Qualifications for the PRN nurse include: minimum one year clinical experience in designated specialty, minimum work commitment of 36 hours per month, and remain current on all educational requirements.

Qualification for PRN MHT, PCA include: current certification or actively enrolled in an approved nursing program, minimum work commitment of 36 hours per month, and remain current on all educational requirements.

Qualifications for PRN PSA include High School graduate or equivalent, minimum work commitment of 36 hours per month, and remain current on all educational requirements.

Qualifications for PRN Case Management: Minimum of 2 years inpatient experience, minimum work commitment of 36 hours per month (32 hours for weekend-only staff), and remain current on all educational requirements.
